Ouch!

Hurt my back tonight in kickboxing.  We were near the end and doing squats when I felt something tweak in my lower left back.  I’m very upset about this, as you can imagine.  Bad, bad time for me to be getting an injury!  Well, it’s never a “good” time, but you know what I mean.  We do these squats all the time, too.  In darn near every single workout I do, I’m doing deep seated squats and nothing ever happens!  So anyway, I’ve been sitting here all night icing it for 10 minutes every 30 minutes.  Took some ibuprofen too.  One of the things that I have learned in this journey is to train hard, but to also train smart.  So, sadly, I will not be going to my 6 am class in the morning.  I will go to my karate class in the evening, though.  I cannot afford to skip out on one with my testing day coming up on the 27th.  I’ll take it easy though if I need to.  I pray it gets better ASAP.  I’ve still got loads I have to do to get ready for my husbands homecoming, and I don’t want it hurting when he is home.  Pray for me!  :o)

Owww! Sorry to hear you hurt yourself. Take care of yourself. I am having trouble after my surgery figuring out what to do now that I can do LIGHT (what is light excercise?) excercise! I do what I can and if it hurts I don’t do it and find something else.
    Have a good day!
    Big HUGS!

you’re so sensible taking the 6am class off after tweaking your back. Maybe talk to your Sensei about lower back strengthening exercises and general core conditioning. As you lose weight, you can focus a lot more on your core because you’ll be able to palpate the deep muscles and feel them flickering when you do the exercises for them.

That is too bad. :( I think with the homecoming and the other joys in your life right now, you will heal very quickly. Health and happiness… :)

Funny thing is, my core is actually really strong now, thanks to all the core exercises we do in my various different classes. I can do planks like you wouldn’t believe. :P It’s so odd that I’d tweak my lower back so easily like this.

Oh Trina baby, I hope you feel better soon…you know that after 24 hours it’s no longer icing but warmth, right? So don’t forget to treat the injury with some warm towels. Hang in there!! I hate injuries of any kind, they always bounce you off of your game…but it’s also a way for your body to let you know it needs to rest! I feel for you darling!

    Catrina,
I, too, hope you heal soon. It is a bummer that this happen to you now. However, since you have such a stong core it will heal fairly quickly, hopefully.
I once injured my back just by picking up a piece of paper off the floor, in my thinner, stronger days. Doc told me then that it just takes being slightly off alignment in the movement for one to hurt their back.
I will keep you in my prayer for a quick recovery.
